Better times...
Posted February 20th, 2008 by krewemaynard12 years ago, I had the chance to see a full lunar eclipse. I missed it because the people I was hanging with at the time had other things planned beforehand...things that wound up causing us to miss the eclipse. I was not a happy camper.
Tonight, I'm sitting in my front yard with my wife's laptop watching a full lunar eclipse. I had my wife and both kids out here with me for a while, but it's bedtime. I'm going to watch this a little longer, then I'll go in with my family. This has been worth a 12-year wait just so I can gloat and be thankful that I didn't stay where I was then.
The Internet sucks
Posted January 31st, 2008 by krewemaynardAm I being too dramatical? Maybe, maybe not. I use the net pretty much every day--email, searches, RSS feeds, all that good stuff and then some. I've been playing on the Internet since about 1995, when I first got to college, with all its high speed connection glory. After all that time I've concluded that the Internet is the best worst thing ever. Simultaneously.
As awesome as all this connectivity is, it's also made users more vulnerable to scammers, spammers, phishers, hoaxsters, fraudsters, liars, thieves, and whatever other evil-sters there are out there. I deleted 10 megs of spam comments, and have permanently disabled comments and user registration requests. :) I know, it was dumb to leave anon comments enabled, but it was worth the learning experience. It's not like I'm losing legitimate comments or traffic anyway. I may lose killer deals on Viagra, but I'll cope.
So I'm late to the party. Plenty of people have figured that out a long time before me...probably at the net's inception. BFD. Have a cookie. Srsly. It's just an observation.
Well...
Posted January 26th, 2008 by krewemaynardI haven't posted anything in, well, forever. Future posts will continue to be sporadic at best. I was dumb and left comments open to tall. I wound up deleting every comment, which was fine because it was all spam. :) The upshot is I learned how to do that all at once in MySql (I <3 you, TRUNCATE ;) ).
I've been playing more with Drupal lately, so I may be testing more things out here very soon. Perhaps a new theme, some new modules, etc. Drupal is awesome! I'm just scratching the surface of what can be done with taxonomies and PHP over at qualityblueprint.com, and intend to play with it more. I finally got clean URLs, too (look at the menu here to see :)!
Also, I'm addicted to Heroes. Netflix uncapping the limit on online viewing was a dangerous move. :)
Will the iPhone blend?
Posted July 11th, 2007 by krewemaynardThis is painful. The iPhone is $499 for the 4gb version, and $599 for the 8gb--not cheap. Plus, it's dead sexy. Nevertheless, the Will It Blend guy has dropped all kinds of objects into his Blendtec...why not the iPhone? So, will it blend?
